Adapt or Die: Why the delivery network of the future will be flexible, customer-centric and vital to company success

Since early 2020, an already hyper-competitive market has been turbocharged. Retailers and logistics service providers can no longer afford to only focus on a single eCommerce delivery mode, but instead need to think more about what their entire customer base requires when it comes to fulfillment options.

That was the conclusion of an interactive workshop held by Reuters Events: Supply Chain in partnership with Scandit. Participants to the workshop explored what the changing outlook meant for them and concluded that the rapid pace of change in market dynamics, costs and consumer expectations meant that flexibility is now a must. They concluded that decision-making needs to be taken further down the chain, requiring last-mile delivery companies to build new models that focus on consumer convenience as well as cost-effectiveness and scalability.

This joint report from Reuters Events Supply Chain and Scandit summarizes the thoughts expressed during that conversation.
