How Al-Generated Phishing Undermines Heuristic Email Defenses

This paper presents findings from over 20,000 phishing emails collected from production environments. AIgenerated attacks now account for 22% of observed phishing volume and are systematically outperforming human-written attacks against enterprise email defenses.

AI-generated phishing bypasses tier-1 filters at 50.3%, nearly double the 28.5% rate for human-written phishing. Flawless content, compromised sending infrastructure, and strategic timing each contribute to this gap.
